Wrestling: 7/8 grade students interested in being on the wrestling team should sign up in the office.There will be a Parent Meeting on Wednesday, October 30th at 7pm. in the CMS Cafeteria for all Winter Athletes and Parents.  Practices will begin November 15. There are also open mats in the high school wrestling room for anyone that wants to "try it out". See Mr. Juliani with any questions.

Boys Basketball: 7/8 grade students interested in being on the boys basketball team should sign up in the office. There will be a Parent Meeting on Wednesday, October 30th at 7pm. in the CMS Cafeteria for all Winter Athletes. Boys basketball will begin practicing on December 16th. Spelling Bee: 7/8 grade students interested in participating in the Spelling Bee in March, please see Mrs. Zietlow to pick up more information and a Google Classroom code. You must join the Google classroom to access study materials for the Spelling Bee. Contact Mrs. Zietlow at [email protected] with any questions.

Picture Day was October 1! If your student was absent on picture day, they may have their picture taken on Picture Retake Day on Tuesday, November 12.
PICTURE RETAKE INFORMATION:  
1) If your student was absent on the first picture day, there will be an ordering site available so you can order online. (cavanaughphoto.com/order)  Or, if you placed an order before the first picture day and didn’t realize your child would be absent, it will be honored.
 2) If you would like a retake- you must bring back the original picture packet that was ordered. Or, if you only ordered a hi-res digital file, please send a note in with your student stating that a hi-res digital file was purchased. If the packet or note is not returned, a new package will not be printed until the original is turned in.

Columbia Football Mini Cheer Camp: Preschool - 6th grade

CHROMEBOOK INSURANCE: Insurance is no longer available for the 2024-2025 school year. 

ALL FEES PAST AND PRESENT WERE DUE SEPTEMBER 15. FEE LETTERS AND LATE NOTICES WERE MAILED HOME ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20.  IF YOU DESIRE A PAYMENT PLAN OR HAVE QUESTIONS  CONTACT THE OFFICE AT 440-236-5741.
  • Payment options: Pay through the PaySchools website accessed on the main page. Mail payments, along with the bottom portion of your statement, to the address listed on statement. Accept payments in the main office by check made payable to Columbia Middle School or exact cash. Credit card purchases are also accepted in person in the office and will not incur the additional fee which is charged when pay in person. If you have any questions, please contact the office at (440) 236-5741.
Chromebooks, Chargers, and Insurance: Students are responsible for keeping chromebooks in good working order. If you have a damaged or chromebook that is not working properly, bring it to the office for repair. If you have lost or damaged your charger, you are responsible for replacing it. They are available on Amazon. Make sure you match the brand name of charger to the brand of your chromebook (ex. Lenovo, Dell, etc. ) and order the 65 watt option. Chromebook Insurance covers one screen break. Take advantage and bring in the cash or check for $25, note this must be on a separate check from any school/ athletic fees. This optional insurance must be purchased by September 15. New students to the district will have 2 weeks from their first day of school to purchase insurance. See chromebook letter HERE

Report Cards: You may access and print a pdf. of your student’s report cards in PowerSchool. Please note, report cards cannot be viewed on the app. You must login to the PowerSchool website to view and print report cards. Access PowerSchool from the MS website (toggle on left).
 
Incoming 7th grade students: The Ohio Revised Code 3313.67 requires that a student entering 7th grade provide written evidence of being immunized against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, (Tdap) and meningococcal (MCV4) or is in the process of being immunized against these diseases.
You must provide the school with a current immunization record for your child. 
 
Medications: Medication forms must be filled out each school year by your physician. Contact Nurse Mindi with any questions at [email protected] 

PowerSchool Mobile APP:The mobile app district code is ZZGS. Report cards cannot be viewed on the app. You must login to the PowerSchool website to view and print report cards.

Athletics

7th and 8th grade Student-Athletes: All 7th and 8th grade student-athletes must complete the athletic forms on OneView prior to the first mandatory practice of the season. A current OHSAA Physical Form must be uploaded in PDF format onto the OneView site and a hard copy must be submitted to your child’s coach no later than the first official day of practice. Students will not be permitted to participate in any practice without the submission of the online forms on the OneView portal on our website. The hard copy of your child’s current physical form must be on file or submitted to your child’s coach no later than the first official day of practice. See the Oneview instructions HERE for first time users to create an account. OHSAA sports physicals are valid for one calendar year. The 2024/2025 OHSAA Preparticipation Physical Form is available in the information rack across from the office or downloaded HERE   
School fees must be paid in full before using school transportation to away sites.  If tryouts are involved with the sports team, pay-to-participate fees are due once the teams are chosen. 

7th and 8th grade Participation Fees: The 2024-2025 athletic participation fee is $150 per athlete/per season with a $300 family cap per season for athletes in 7-12 grade.
Fall Participation Fees are due by September 1, 2024.
Winter Participation Fees are due by December 1, 2024. 
Spring Participation Fees are due by March 1, 2025.
School transportation for all extra curricular activities will be denied until all past and current school fees are paid.
