Attention Parents: 2022-2023 school fees have now been assessed to your account. Fee letters will be sent home on Monday, October 3 to all middle school residences. Information on payment and due dates are listed on the fee letter. Also included in this mailing is a Free and Reduced Lunch application. If you feel your child may qualify, please fill out the application and return to the school office.
Chromebook Insurance Deadline: Attention parents who opted in for chromebook insurance on your OneView account. The payment is due by October 7. After the deadline you will not be able to purchase chromebook insurance for the current school year. Send in your $25,  cash or check made payable to Columbia Local Schools, to the office. *You are unable to pay this fee on your PaySchools account. 
Parent/Teacher Conferences: We will be using the online program, PTCFast, to schedule conferences. Conferences this year will take place either Virtually through Google Meet or In Person.
Parent/Teacher Conferences at the middle school will be held on:
Wednesday, October 12 from 3:15-7pm for IN PERSON Conferences  
Thursday, October 13 from 12-4pm for VIRTUAL Conferences (teachers will email you a link for virtual appointments).   SCHEDULE HERE 
Reminder ~ October 13 is an Early Release Day and we will dismiss middle school students at 11:05 am. Students will eat lunch at school before being dismissed. Please contact the office at 236-5741 with any questions. 

Attention CMS Raiders!  Student Council is looking for class representatives for 5-8 grade that are committed, hardworking, efficient, show leadership, and follow The Raider Way.

If that sounds like you, then consider signing up to be a Grade Level Representative!  See your core teachers for more information.  
Yearbook Club sign-ups: Sign up in the office this week if you are interested in joining the Yearbook Club. See Mrs. Bellisario in room 2 with any questions.
Academic Challenge for 5-8th graders: The first meeting will be held next Tuesday, October 4 right after school in room 8 with Mrs. Wilson. Your parents must pick you up when the meeting ends at 3:15. See Mrs. Wilson with any questions.
7/8 grade Power of Pen: Our first meeting will be held next Monday, October 3 right after school in room 8 with Mrs. Wilson. Your parents must pick you up when the meeting ends at 3:40.  See Mrs. Wilson with any questions.

Boys and Girls Wrestling sign-ups: Any 7/8 grade boy or girl interested in wrestling this coming winter should sign-up in the office! This season we have a full boys and girls schedule and we are looking to take the LC8 Championship! We will also have postseason local, state, and national tournaments available to those interested. The first practice is Friday, November 11th. See Mr. Juliani in room 1 with any questions.

Boys Basketball sign-ups: Any 7/8 gr. boys interested in playing on the middle school team this year should sign-up in the office. See Mr. Kilpatrick with any questions.

Attention All Parents/Guardians: Please make sure your student brings their fully-charged chromebook to school everyday! We have a limited number of chromebooks available for students to borrow, so there may be times that your student will not be able to borrow one from the office. Please make sure that your child is charging his/her chromebook each night and they have it in their backpack to bring to school each morning. Thank you!   
Calling all Mini Cheer Campers
Columbia High School Cheerleading is hosting Mini Cheer Camp for grades Pre-School - 6th Grade! Come learn a chant, cheer and dance with the High School Cheerleaders and perform at the Varsity Football Game on Friday, October 14th at 7pm! Cost is $35/mini cheer camper and you will receive a t-shirt, tattoo and hair ribbon! Registration ends Monday, October 3, so turn in your paperwork before then!

Important Notice for Family and Fans supporting CLSD events: Beginning August 2022, Columbia Local Schools will use online ticketing for all onsite events through TicketSpicket . There will be no cash sales at the gates for any CLSD events that require paid tickets. Review the informational letter from Mr. Jump HERE with details on how to purchase your tickets.  

PowerSchool Parent Portal: Please note, report cards cannot be viewed on the app. You must login to the PowerSchool website to view and print report cards.
Access PowerSchool from the MS website (toggle on left). The mobile app district code is ZZGS.

2022-2023 School Year: 
School Day: 7:35 am – 2:35 pm.
Buses arrive at the school by 7:20 am.
Car riders drop-off begins at 7:20 am. 
Car riders dismissed at 2:30 pm.
Bus riders dismissed at 2:35 pm.

School Meals for the 2022-2023 School year: As of August 2022, the federal government will no longer subsidize meals for ALL students. Meal prices for the 2022-2023 school year are:
Student Breakfast $2.00
Student Lunch  $3.50
Milk $0.50 
Families may add monies to their PaySchools Account (PayForIt) HERE to cover meal costs and extras for their children. See the user guide HERE for frequently asked questions.
Application for Free and Reduced Meals: The 2022-2023 school year Application for Free and Reduced Meals can now be accessed and filled out. You may download the application HERE
School Fees: Letters were sent home to all students still owing school fees at the end of the 2021-2022 year. Check your child’s PayForIt or PowerSchool account to view your students outstanding fees. 
Students who participate in extracurricular activities that require bus transportation will be denied that privilege if school fees are not paid. Fees may be viewed on your child's PowerSchool account and paid on the PayForIt system by credit card. Payment is also accepted in the office with cash (exact amount), check or credit card or mail your payment to the middle school. If you require a payment plan, contact Mrs. Bowes in the main office. A signed payment plan contract will allow students with outstanding fees to continue to use school transportation.

Student-Athletes: All student-athletes must complete the athletic forms on OneView prior to the first mandatory practice of the season. A current OHSAA Physical Form must be uploaded in PDF format onto the OneView site and a hard copy must be submitted to your child’s coach no later than the first official day of practice. Students will not be permitted to participate in any practice without the submission of the online forms on the OneView portal on our website. The hard copy of your child’s current physical form must be on file or submitted to your child’s coach no later than the first official day of practice. See the Oneview instructions HERE for first time users to create an account. OHSAA sports physicals are valid for one calendar year. The 2022/2023 OHSAA Preparticipation Physical Form is available in the information rack across from the office or downloaded HERE  

Participation Fees: The 2022-2023 athletic participation fee is $150 per athlete per season with a $300 family cap per season for athletes in 7-12 grade. This fee is due no later than the first athletic contest. School transportation for all extra curricular activities will be denied until all past and current school fees are paid.
