Daily Announcements

Early Release: CMS will dismiss at 11:05 on Thursday, February 15. Students will have lunch and be transported home as usual. There is no school for students on Friday, February 16 due to a staff inservice. Schools will be closed Monday, February 19 in observance of Presidents’ Day. 

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be held at Columbia Middle School on Wednesday, February 28th from 3:15-7:00pm. and Thursday, February 29th from 12:00-4:00pm. (students will be released at 11:05am. on this day). Please note that all conferences are scheduled to be in-person this year. If you need a virtual conference, please reach out to the team of teachers. Once again, we are using PTCFast to make signups as convenient as possible. There is a "late" sale from March 1st through March 15th, but the price will increase during this time. No yearbooks will be sold after March 15th and very few extras are expected to be available when they are delivered in May. Orders can only be placed online. 7/8 gr. CMS Girls Softball Team: Columbia Middle School will have a 7/8 gr. softball team this Spring! The team will play in the LC8 Conference and the season will be from March through April. Contact Mr. Newton to register. Tryouts will be held on February 26 from 4:30-6:30 in the gym.
 
Winter Athletes: School fees must be paid in full or you may be denied to use school transportation to away sites. See Mrs. Bowes in the office if you need a payment plan. PAY TO PARTICIPATE fees are now OVERDUE
 
Cullinary Arts Competion: Students in 5-8 grade may sign up in the office. Practice will be March 5 and 6 after school. The competion will be held March 8. Space is limited to 32 students. See information/permission slip HERE. See Mrs. Webber in the cafeteria with any questions.

School Fees: School fees for the 2023-2024 school year were due October 30, 2023. Past year's fees and outstanding CLSD property are past due. Any student who participates in co-curricular or extracurricular activities that require school transportation must have all school fees paid and missing items returned. Payment options: Pay through the PaySchools system on the school's website, mail payment with check made payable to Columbia Middle School, or send check or exact cash with your student to pay in the office. Report Cards: You may access and print a pdf. of your student’s report cards in PowerSchool. Please note, report cards cannot be viewed on the app. You must login to the PowerSchool website to view and print report cards. Access PowerSchool from the MS website (toggle on left).
 
Incoming 7th grade students: The Ohio Revised Code 3313.67 requires that a student entering 7th grade provide written evidence of being immunized against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, (Tdap) and meningococcal (MCV4) or is in the process of being immunized against these diseases.
You must provide the school with a current immunization record for your child by September 18, 2023.
 
Medications: Medication forms must be filled out each school year by your physician. Contact Nurse Mindi with any questions at [email protected] 
 
Chromebooks, Chargers and Insurance:  Students are responsible for keeping chromebooks in good working order. If you have a damaged or chromebook that is not working properly, bring it to the office for repair.  If you have lost or damaged your charger, you are responsible for replacing it. Chargers are available on Amazon. Make sure you check the model name before ordering a replacement. Chromebook Insurance will be available in fall of each school year. New students to the district will have 2 weeks from their first day of school to purchase insurance. 

PowerSchool Parent Portal: Please note, report cards cannot be viewed on the app. You must login to the PowerSchool website to view and print report cards.

School Meals for the 2023-2024 School year: As of August 2022, the federal government will no longer subsidize meals for ALL students. Meal prices for the 2023-2024 school year are:

  • Student Lunch  $3.50
  • Milk $0.55

    Athletics

    7th and 8th grade Student-Athletes: All 7th and 8th grade student-athletes must complete the athletic forms on OneView prior to the first mandatory practice of the season. A current OHSAA Physical Form must be uploaded in PDF format onto the OneView site and a hard copy must be submitted to your child’s coach no later than the first official day of practice. Students will not be permitted to participate in any practice without the submission of the online forms on the OneView portal on our website. The hard copy of your child’s current physical form must be on file or submitted to your child’s coach no later than the first official day of practice. See the Oneview instructions HERE for first time users to create an account. OHSAA sports physicals are valid for one calendar year. The 2023/2024 OHSAA Preparticipation Physical Form is available in the information rack across from the office or downloaded HERE  
    School fees must be paid in full before using school transportation to away sites.  If tryouts are involved with the sports team, pay-to-participate fees are due once the teams are chosen. 

    7th and 8th grade Participation Fees: The 2023-2024 athletic participation fee is $150 per athlete per season with a $300 family cap per season for athletes in 7-12 grade. This fee is due no later than the first athletic contest. School transportation for all extra curricular activities will be denied until all past and current school fees are paid.
