Rural Urban Article, November 7, 2022

There is no school for students on Monday, November 7th.  All CLSD staff will be participating in professional development on this day.

Our first Family Night of the school year will take place on Tuesday, November 8th.   There are no games, practices, homework or activities on this night.  Life gets extremely busy all the time and it’s easy to get caught in everyday tasks.  Sometimes all the things on our to-do lists prevent us from just slowing down and enjoying our kids.  We hope that you have a great evening with your family!

Copopa will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration on Friday, November 11th.   Continental breakfast will begin at 8:45 am and the ceremony is at 9:30 am.  If interested, please contact the Copopa main office at (440) 236-5020.  Additional information can be found on our website and click on Copopa Elementary.

We continue to see a tremendous amount of support for our schools and the renewal levy that is on the ballot on Tuesday, November 8.  We made a promise back in 2013 when this renewal levy was first on the ballot that we would not ask for any NEW money for at least 10 years!  We have kept this promise as only renewals or combining of older levies have come to our community for a vote.  Our 5-year forecast will continue to be stable with the passage of Issue #4.  Regardless of what you may hear otherwise, CLSD will continue to open and honest with all of our accounting practices.  If you have a question or concern, please feel free to reach out to me or our Treasurer, Pat Eddy.

November 8th is a BIG day for our school district.  A reminder that polls are open from 6:30 am until 7:30 pm at the Ummah Center.   Issue #4 is a renewal operating levy with NO additional taxes!  This general fund operating levy will collect 5.5 mills per year in revenue for CLSD for the purpose of educating our students.  This levy was originally passed in November 2013 and was renewed in 2018.  Funds from this levy are used for:  safety and security, transportation, retention of staff, salaries/benefits, building maintenance, utilities and much more.  On November 8th, please support Columbia Local Schools!   Thank you!

Rural Urban Record - October 12, 2020

Fall has finally arrived.  Enjoy these warmer days as long as you can!  We are at the interim grading period for the first nine weeks.  So far, the school year has been excellent.  I can’t express my gratitude enough to our students, staff and families for adapting to all of the challenges that have been presented to us.

The new all-weather track at CHS is now open to the community.  It is open from dusk to dawn.  We ask that if you are walking or jogging, please use the outer lanes only.  Pets, wheeled vehicles, skates, skateboards, strollers, bicycles and scooters are not permitted.  We are so excited for this addition to our schools and can’t wait for our track team to compete at home.  Thank you to all of our local businesses and individuals for helping to make this a reality.

CLSD is currently hiring bus drivers, cleaners and substitute custodians.  If you are interested, please contact me at the email listed below.

The next Board of Education meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 21st at 6:30 pm at CHS in the CCF Media Center.  Hope to see you there!

Best of luck to all of our coaches, teams, players, cheerleaders and band as we head into the tournament portion of fall sports!  It has been an exciting season for all of our student athletes.

We are always looking to improve the quality of the school district and the services we provide.  If you have a suggestion, question or comment please feel free to call me at (440) 236-5008 or email [email protected]
